Braintree's Ye Olde Deacon Thayer House Listed For Sale
BRAINTREE, MA — The latest multi-family home on the Braintree market is one familiar to locals.
Ye Olde Deacon Thayer House was built in 1803. According to a Patriot Ledger article, it was built by Deacon Nathaniel Emmons Thayer, who was the son of gunsmith Richard Thayer and Esther French Thayer.
Thayer had a prominent role in Braintree politics, but his home has seen multiple variations of use, including a small coffee shop owned by a touring violinist in the 1930s.
In 2009, however, things took a turn for the worst when a murder was committed on the property.
Fast forward to 2023, and the property is back on the market as a renovated three-family home, listed at $935,000.
